Scott M. Stevens,
RHU

Scott M. Stevens, RHU is an employee benefits
specialist located in Omaha, NE Stevens specializes
in alternate funding arrangements including partial
self funding and consumer driven health plans
(e.g. HSA, HRA, FSA), and has helped thousands
of employer groups transition to such plans over
a 20+ year career in healthcare financing and
insurance. His career has included stints as Vice
President of Sales/Marketing for a national insurance
company; co-founder and Vice President of a regional
Third Party Administrator, and presently, an employee
benefits broker/consultant managing a customer
base which generates nearly $7 million in annual
premium.
Among his major career accomplishments was leading
an initiative which resulted in the introduction
of one of the nation’s first integrated Medical
Savings Account (MSA)/High Deductible Plan programs
in 1996. During his career, Stevens has published
articles addressing healthcare financing issues,
and has become a recognized national speaker.
He served on Washington, D.C. based task forces
including the HIAA Technical Advisory Group on
Medical Savings Accounts and the Health Savings
Account Task Force. He is a regular speaker at
the Consumer Driven Healthcare Conference and
Symposium held twice each year at various locations
around the country. He has also developed a turn
key program for effective Health Savings Account/High
Deductible Plan implementation called The HSA
Tool Kit, which he markets to carriers, administrators,
and brokers/agents nationwide.
Mr. Stevens received his Bachelor of Science
degree from the State University of New York at
Oswego in 1987, majoring in Marketing and Economics,
and has completed significant course work towards
a Masters in Business Administration from North
Central College in Naperville, Illinois. At present,
he is pursuing the Registered Employee Benefit
Consultant (REBC) designation, and holds the Registered
Health Underwriter (RHU) designation. He is a
licensed agent for Life, Annuities, Sickness,
and Accident insurance in the states of Nebraska,
Missouri, Iowa, and Kansas. Recently, he received the National Association of Health Underwriters’ certification in Consumer Directed Healthcare (CDH). In addition, he is
a member of the National Association of Health
Underwriters, Nebraska Association of Health Underwriters,
Omaha Association of Health Underwriters, Junior
Achievement, Omaha Morning Rotary, and the St.
Stephen The Martyr Stewardship and Development
Committee.
